Terratico Selected as NextCycle Colorado Team for 2023 Recycling Business Accelerator

Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment supports businesses to grow state’s circular economy

Boulder, Colorado, USA. – The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) has selected Terratico (terratico.com) as one of ten teams to participate in the fourth year of NextCycle Colorado, a six-month business incubator program focused on waste reduction and recycling. Terratico has proposed a novel eco-concrete structural and decorative product which uses recycled plastics with concrete to contribute to the development of Colorado’s recycling, composting, and reuse of materials. As a part of the program, they will receive assistance to build, find funds, and implement their business plans ultimately helping the state towards its 45% waste diversion goal by 2036.

The NextCycle Colorado program selects new and expanding businesses and organizations through a competitive application process. NextCycle provides value by connecting teams to the resources and expertise they need and prepares teams to receive investments and implement ideas. Teams will be able to advance their end- market endeavors through:

  • No-cost consulting support provided by Resource Recycling Systems (RRS) and project subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Attendance at a multi-day business planning-focused bootcamp with travel and attendance costs covered by the NextCycle program.
  • Participation in a Pitch Competition to potential funders, investors, partners, and community leaders.
  • Access to subject matter experts on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC), including experts in material processing, infrastructure, manufacturing, finance, risk assessment, partnerships, and market development.

With these business development resources, NextCycle teams will be invited to compete for millions of dollars of state funding through CDPHE’s Recycling Resources Economic Opportunity (RREO) and Front Range Waste Diversion (FRWD) grant programs. Since NextCycle’s implementation in 2018, NextCycle Colorado teams have been awarded more than $2 million in CDPHE recycling grants and have secured more than $75 million in total tracked investment.

The program is designed to build a more sustainable domestic recycling economy, drive demand for recovered commodities and organics, and create a circular economic model in the state. It also helps create jobs, increase tax revenue, and improve Colorado’s environment. On May 16, 2023, the NextCycle teams will present their business pitches to investors and the public at the NextCycle Colorado Pitch Competition in Boulder, Colorado. Attendance at the event is free and open to the public. Interested attendees must register to attend.

Funding for NextCycle Colorado is provided by the RREO program. Technical support and program management is provided by Resource Recycling Systems (RRS), a sustainability and recycling consulting firm.
